Harry Potter

Pagi tadi sempat pergi Malaysia International Gift and Premium Exhibition @KLCC. Dalam byk2 items kat sana, kristal yang ada laser engraving Harry Potter ni paling menarik perhatian...giler outstanding.

Bila tgk dr another side, dia punya gambar Harry Potter ni lain pulak...fuhh, kelas...bestnya kalau dapat bawak balik satu. Harganya benda ni beriban-riban, ermm...telan air liur jelah, benda ni kristal bukannya kaca biasa, kalau tak boleh gak pikir2 nak beli. Co yg buat kristal ni based kat Dubai n blom ada branch kat M'sia, kristal2 dia yg lain pun mmg kelas.

Lain2 item kat MIGP 2008 ni biasa je...tp dapatlah jugak tambah pengetahuan.

By SORAYA JAMAL Bernama - Tuesday, June 17

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 (Bernama) -- Many Malaysians resorted to reading blogs in the last general election as they considered this latest ‘news channel’ more appealing as compared to the traditional news dissemination avenues like the newspaper and television.

A study conducted on the role and influence of the Internet and bloggers on the Malaysian general election 2008 showed that even though 80 percent of the respondents were aware of their presence, blogs are popular with the middle class and below.

The study ‘Peranan dan Pengaruh Internet dan Kewartawanan Bloggers Terhadap Pengundi Semasa Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia 2008’ was the effort of Prof Madya Dr Baharuddin Aziz, Dr Rahmat Ghazali and Dr Abd Rasid Abd Rahman from Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) Communications and Media Studies Faculty.

The study found that there is no concrete evidence that indicates, by preferring to read blogs would make a person to be opposition-inclined in their stand.

"After making the cross matching, we found that there is no strong evidence that supports the notion that the Internet contents had moved the people to vote for the opposition", Dr Baharuddin told Bernama here recently.

He said many among the newspaper readers and television viewers had also switched to supporting the opposition in the last general election.

"So as with the blog readers, many of them had supported the ruling party", he said.

The one month study also found that banners, posters and pamphlets played a crucial role towards swaying the voters’ sentiment for the opposition.

LINGAM VIDEO CLIP

The study conducted on 1,100 voters in four zones – north (28 percent), south (22 percent), east coast (19 percent) and central (31 percent) utilized the stratified group sampling method.

It found that issues and comments made in blogs from September 2007 had shaped the voters’ inclination towards the opposition.

"It began since September 2007, with the video clip that recorded the conversation between V.K. Lingam with a senior member of the judiciary on the appointments of judges, this is the stage when voters started to sway to the opposition", said Dr Baharuddin.

The Internet and blogs have served a new ‘menu’ for readers as compared to that found in the mainstream media.

Readers preferred blogs as they want something different and 38 percent of the respondents preferred reading blogs as the issues were discussed in a different way, as compared to that in the mainstream media.

"When ministers and politicians hop onto this phenomenon, it means they admit the clout of blogs and online journalism, hence exposing readers to a balanced views and opinions", said Dr Baharuddin.

He said, the authorities need not to ‘over react’ over the presence and contents of blogs, but the comments and feedback should be viewed positively.

BLOG READERS

The study’s field survey was made on polling day where the respondents were 57 percent men and 43 percent women.

Sixty percent of the respondents were below 40 years old.

Blog reading is an urban trend where it is influential among those aged 35 and below.

Almost half of the respondents, at 41.3 percent read blogs in the office while 31.7 percent did it at home.

Forty-four percent said they viewed the blogs two or three times a day while 33 percent of the respondents said they never read blogs.

When asked whether the contents of blogs swayed their choice, 55.2 percent gave the nod with the rest saying ‘no’.

Among the issues considered as hot by the readers were the price hike of petrol and other consumer goods, the Lingam video clip, judiciary and corruption.

As for the breakdown of the voters’ choice, 48.6 percent polled for the opposition while 41.1 percent chose the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Almost 36 percent believed ‘a little bit’ in the contents of blogs, 16.4 percent trusted almost all of the contents while 2.8 percent believed all. As for those who have total doubts, they numbered 4.9 percent.

Among the blogs and websites considered as the readers pick are Malaysiakini.com, Suara Keadilan, SPR, Harakah Online,Berita Harian online, Youtube, Utusan Malaysia online, Malaysia Today, The Star online as well as that posted by news agencies.

CHALLENGES IN FUTURE ELECTION

When asked on the challenges in the future general elections, Dr Baharuddin said the digital media warfare and the preference of the younger generation should be given a serious thought, particularly with the presence of 1.8 ‘fresh’ voters for 2012/2013.

The Mobile TV and hand phone networks also play a major role.

"We cannot deny that the digital divide still exists in the country but we can no longer sweep aside the role of the new media.

"During the Ijok and Machap by-elections, the bloggers were already active but the impact was insignificant, unlike what happened during the 2008 general election", he said.

The ruling party was at the receiving end as it failed to adequately address the issues raised.

"For example, on last Feb 13, the newspapers front-page reports were not only on the dissolution of Parliament but also on the judiciary issues," he said.

Dr Baharuddin said the management of issues was crucial, as a weak approach did not clarify sensitive issues, thus making the public to switch to reading blogs for further clarification, a detrimental effect for the ruling coalition.

Quoting the words of Dr Rahmat Ghazali, a member of those who conducted the study: "When there are too many blogs that have elements of moving towards anarchy, then it is not impossible that one day we would have an anarchic society".

It is worthwhile to reflect on this.

Smlm dok kat opis half day je...lepas lunch bergegas ke Crown Princess for AGM Kelab Sukan and pas tu continue trus ngn Thank You Hi Tea MSAM 2008.

During the AGM ada election comm baru tp last2 semua comm lm dikekalkan...sighs, petanda tak baik...50% dr harapan nak berehat dr organize2 events selalu tu hilang...kemungkinan kena joint balik tu dah 80%, as usual mmg takde peluang nak tolak la...unless boss tak pueh ati ngn performance b4 this.....camne ni? layan jelah....papun hope muka2 baru ttp dibawa msk kasi segar sket....gabungan baru n lm tu penting...biar ada pelapis.....hmm. Papun, harap kalau dorang reject my name pun biarlah bukan sebab tak puas hati....i already tried my best...tp buat events ni biasalah, mmg semput dada, senak perut...tmbh2 kejadian pagi FD kat Sunway hr tu...maaf TSHKP, sorry boss.

Habis AGM, masuk Hi Tea....makan2 session. Food sedap...tp bole la control, mkn berpada-pada. Dok semeja wif geng2 CSR mmg happening...kecoh giler. Entertainer semestinya Sarah Raisudin slp prestasi cemerlang kat Melaka hari tu. Sarah mmg cukup berbakat, suara sedap, communication ok, senang berkira ( dah 2 function, tmbh lagu FOC) cuma mungkin nasib x menyebelahi je...oh ye, seksi tu pun kena kurang sket Sarah. Kami mmg terpukau dgn vokal hebat Sarah smlm, good luck Sarah.

Baru sempat upload pics Family Day this yr. My co n dept FD this yr berturut-turut so kiranya sakan la bergumbira. Papun, ms kat Sunway Lagoon, takde la bergumbira sgt coz bertugas. Dah 4 thn sibuk organise, mmg nak sgt stop n just enjoy e day tp mmg bukan senang nak kuar camtu je...bak kata org "sekali terjebak, sign contract smpai mati la"..huhu. Setelah 3 hr dok kehulu kehilir uruskan FD kat sunway tu, bila smpai hr nya dah pancit...habis tugas, smpt mandi kejap je pas tu terus balik umh tido, rs letih sgt ...rugi2....my friends smpai tutup kul 6 tu br balik.

Seminggu kemdian, my dept punya outing kat Suria Beach Resort, Cherating. This 1 bole la releks sket. Kat sini benda yg paling best ialah food dia...mmg superb. Bilik pun ok la. Ombak that day agak kuat so takde la mandi laut, main2 air je cukup. Hr ahad tu smpat g kuala kemaman, pekena otak2 n satar...besh. Kalau cuti pjg nak gak trus lajak ke KT ke tp cuti 4 hr je, cukup la visit family n friends kat Kuantan je. erm...nak ucap tima kasih la pd kekawan yg organize FD Cherating tu...JUMPA LAGI DI ILHAM RESORT DALAM PD FD 2009 ok...yezza (tak perlu kann?).

Satu malaysia still bermuram dgn kenaikkan harga petrol semlam. Mmglah...bukan kecil impactnya pd kebanyakan kita...usable income turun lebih byk dr kenaikkan 40% harga petrol...2, 3 tahun punya salary increament pun blum tentu bole cover lg.

Bila harga petrol naik, tetiba KLP highway yg pernah sbln je penunggang moto bole guna (pernah citer pasai ni dulu kat sini dan sini) dah boleh guna balik coz G nak galakkan lebih ramai org guna motor kononnya. Rahmat disebalik kenaikkan petrol?......ermmm...takde la kira berita baik pun tambah2 suratkabar dah start siarkan berita impact kenaikkan petrol ps harga lain2 goods n services. Nak citer pasai ni 3 hari 3 mlm pun tak abis la...for me, hr ni cam rs nak start berjimat cermat, berbelanja lebih berhemah, lebih bersederhana w/pun x terasa sgt kesan harga petrol naik ni coz of my status n conditions right now. Tapi kenapa tak buat kalau benda tu baik n mmg dituntut agama....hah...tazkirah jumaat pulak he he.

Bila KLP dah open balik ni, so start today, my route da tukar...g keje ikut KESAS n KLP (2 highway) balik ikut Besraya n Puchong Bukit Jalil Bypass (2 highway)...jarak mungkin x byk beza dr dulu cuma coz prefer jln yg kureng jam...n so far, this route paling best...mudah2an.

Today, my mentor just come back from London n drop by to give me some souvenier...ha ha....thanks a lot....best2. Dia ni mmg baik hati....tak pernah lokek ngn wang ringgit apatah lagi nasihat, tunjuk ajar n pengalaman. Memang tak dpt nak balas budi baiknya cuma apa yg mampu doa je moga dikurniakan kpdnya kebaikannya dunia akhirat...insyaallah...amin.

Semua dah sedia maklum, petang tadi after weekly cabinet meeting, PM dah announce harga petrol lepas tgh mlm ni naik to RM2.70/liter. Punya la byk naiknya...RM0.78/liter.

Walaupun dah agak harga tu akan naik tapi bila betul2 naik rs semacam gak. Along the way balik td tetiba rs lain pulak keadaan KL mlm ni...cam satu KL bermuram he he...kesan kenaikkan harga petrol kot? sepanjang jln balik punya la jam teruk....sgt2 teruk la.

Papun harga baru petrol jap lagi effective...for me, so far takleh bajet lagi kesannya tp for the long term mungkin byk effectnya. Bila petrol naik harga...tak berhenti kat situ je, byk la benda lain yg mengikutnya naik...paling risau food price pun naik gila2...tgk la harga beras la ni. Actually, i not worry much about me tp teringat lak family, saudara mara, kwn2, others msian yg dah bekeluarga, anak ramai...dlm keadaan skrg ni gaji RM3/4 ribu pun blum tentu senang hati....ni plak yg gaji less than RM2 K. erm....

Sebagai ganti direct subsidi kat petrol tu, owner kenderaan bwh 2ooocc dpt rebat RM625 n motor RM150 ms buat roadtax....yg ni no comment lg...kena research dulu, ms ni pikir kalau my case pun senang ke nak implement benda ni...kang lg susah ms nak wat road tax kang.

Just harap G boleh control harga brg esp food n saving from subsidi petrol yg dah kurang tu buat la something yg rakyat biasa ni bole dpt faedahnya...kalau tak bahaya...rakyat marah kang.
